To ensure the future is endowed with many new and exciting artists, LALIFF invests resources and time identifying and developing promising artistic students. Prior to the festival we visit and mentor various students from elementary, middle school, and high school in narrative and cinematic structure. These students then design their individual projects and we assist in each stage of the process from conception to production. At the start of the festival our Screen Education Series draws a gathering of students from elementary, middle school, and high school.
The event is an opportunity to observe a professional feature film being showcased at the festival. These special screenings are organized and specifically designated for each age group by our youth advisory board. A collaboration between LALIFF and the educators of the students mentored under our youth program. Each screening will be presented the by the filmmakers of the work who afterwards guide discussions with the students. Presenting their backgrounds and the experience creating their works.
