Out of the darkest tragedies come the greatest voices…. In the wake of the high school shootings in Parkland, Florida, concerned citizens travel by bus to the State Capitol to debate legislators about an urgent issue: Gun Reform. A community for change is created during the next election, rooted in the newfound strength of a movement led by stay-at-home moms, one of whom decides to run for office in a grass-roots effort to honor her son and family.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR(S)
Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Miami, Adam Schlachter graduated with an M.F.A. in Film Directing from the American Film Institute, completed a Professional Advanced Certificate in Screenwriting from the University of California, Los Angeles, and earned a B.F.A. in Film Production from Florida State University. His AFI thesis, “My Backyard Was A Mountain”, qualified for the Academy Awards, was the recipient of the Imagen Award, won prestigious grants from Kodak and Panavision, and screened at over one hundred and seventy-five international film festivals. A finalist in Esquire Magazine for his short adaptation, “Father Figure”, Adam completed his debut feature, “The 7”, four shorts, “a woman IN LOVE”, “Trickle Down Quantum, ”The Stain On The Sidewalk”, and “The Perfect Shot”, and two promos, “We Are All Latino” and “Sue Wong: Beauty, Magic, Transformation”. He was selected for the CBS Directing Initiative, the NBC-Universal Showcase, the Writers Guild of America Independent Writers Caucus, the HSF/McNamara Arts Project Grant, the Caucus Foundation Grant, and the Diversity Scholarship from the Multicultural Motion Picture Association. Adam’s last feature film is titled “Hollywood Whores”, currently available for distribution. He is developing and/or producing seven new feature films: “Born Dead”, “The Polybius Project”, “Dancing With Fidel”, “Sweet Dreams Kiss”, “Redemption”, “They Sway Toward The Sun”, and “Top Ten”. His most recent completed film, “And The Brave Shall Rise”, is available for film festival submissions. He is in post-production on his third feature film, a documentary titled “Hair In A Bag”. Adam resides in Los Angeles. He loves his Mom, Lilliam, his dog, Yo-Yo, his cat, Smokey, and karaoke serenades.
