Wilderness tells the story of a father and son who contemplate life and the cosmos while stargazing on their camping trip. When the son is suddenly struck with a feeling of homesickness, his father sets out to comfort his son’s longing by helping him re-imagine him what home really means.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR(S)
Andrew Vasquez is a writer and director from Los Angeles. He received his MFA in Film Production from the School of Cinematic Arts (USC). He is co-founder of the Latinx production company Bracero, creating with collaborators such as Black Lives Matter, CicLAvia, and the LA Philharmonic. His work has premiered on Remezcla and NPR Music ALT LATINO. His project, ”Camisa Al Revés”, was an official selection of the Los Angeles Film Festival (2018). His original play, ”Ciudadano Desaparecido”, was commissioned and presented by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association for the program Latino Americans: 500 Years of U.S. History. “Wilderness” is his latest short film.
